Science Museum

The Science Museum opened in Kitanomaru Park in 1964 with the aim of deepening the public’s knowledge of and interest in science and technology.
Advances in science and technology have dramatically improved our daily lives.
The museum features approximately 20 themed exhibition rooms, including the “Electricity Factory” and the “Manufacturing Room,” introducing industries and technologies that are closely connected to everyday life.
Many of the exhibits are interactive, allowing visitors to experience and better understand the science and technology that surround us in our daily lives.
In addition, experiment shows and other demonstrations are held every day. Visitors of all ages—not only children but adults as well—can witness eye-opening phenomena, such as the principles of water filtration and the mechanisms of electricity generation.
When the museum first opened in 1964, it featured exhibits including models of artificial satellites, radio-controlled technology demonstrations, videophones, and displays revealing the internal mechanisms of factory machinery.
Technologies that are commonplace today, such as unmanned aerial vehicles known as drones and smartphones, could only have been imagined at that time.
