Tokyo Water Science Museum

The Tokyo Water Science Museum is a free, hands-on museum operated by the Tokyo Metropolitan Government Bureau of Waterworks.
Where does our water come from, and what processes does it go through before reaching our homes? Visitors can discover the answers through a variety of experiments and quizzes that encourage them to see, touch, and experience water for themselves. The journey begins with a large immersive theater that extends from floor to ceiling. As a result, the museum goes far beyond a simple introduction to the Bureau of Waterworks, offering an engaging experience for both children and the adults accompanying them.
In addition, the basement houses the Ariake Water Supply Station, an actual water supply facility that provides water to approximately 20,000 households in the Ariake area, and guided tours are available. Participatory events are also frequently held on Sundays and public holidays, making the museum especially popular with children.
Meanwhile, to the north of the museum, beyond the Metropolitan Expressway, is the Tokyo Sewerage Museum "Rainbow". While the Water Science Museum focuses on water supply, this facility focuses on sewerage. Its hands-on work experience program, where visitors can wear work uniforms, is particularly popular.
