Noboribetsu Marine Park Nixe
"Noboribetsu Marine Park Nixe," under the theme of "Nordic Romance and Ocean Fantasy," is an aquarium that opened in 1990. A striking feature of this place is its appearance. It is a Renaissance-style building built on a model of the Egeskov Castle in Denmark, which known as "the Castle floating on the lake." Approximately 20,000 creatures from 400 species are here. Inside the building, there are petting pools where you can even touch sharks and horseshoe crabs and a stunning tunnel type aquarium "Aqua tunnel" protected by a 105 mm thick acrylic plate. There is also the magical "Kaleidoscope of Goldfish" space, a kaleidoscope large enough for a person to enter. There are two popular dolphin shows, and different shows are set up for bottlenose dolphins and pacific white-sided dolphins.
Also, a unique stereoscopic object seen all over the building is operated by the keepers of the aquarium. It is a popular spot for taking photos. The "Penguin parade," where cute penguins waddle and walk right out in front of you, commences everyday regardless of the season.
From April to October, the amusement park "Nixe Land" is also available.
The ferris wheel, which overlooks Uchiura Bay from a height 30 meters, is an attraction that adults can also enjoy.
