The Ueno Royal Museum
The Ueno Royal Museum is an art museum operated by the Japan Art Association, which opened in 1972 (Showa 47).
While the museum houses ukiyo-e works, including prints depicting Ueno, it does not maintain a permanent exhibition. Instead, it focuses primarily on themed and special exhibitions.
In addition, it regularly hosts events such as the annual VOCA Exhibition, a contemporary art exhibition showcasing works by emerging artists, as well as open-call exhibitions. These exhibitions, including the VOCA Exhibition, are highly regarded as original and distinctive platforms for emerging artists.
Among the original merchandise available on its online store, notepads featuring illustrations of Saigō Takamori are particularly popular, and postcards from the same series are also available.
