Tsukuda Park
Tsukuda Park extends from Chuo Ohashi Bridge, which spans the Sumida River to Tsukuda Island, southwest to Tsukuda Bridge. Ishikawajima Park stretches from the north to the east, reaching Aioi Bridge. The two parks are connected by the Sumida River Terrace that runs along the riverbank.
Covering an area of approximately two hectares, the park features playground equipment for children, including slides, swings, and jungle gyms, as well as exercise equipment for seniors. A structure modeled after a lighthouse from the late Edo period serves as the park’s symbol.
The Sumida River Terrace, which follows the riverbank, is an ideal place for a leisurely stroll or a short rest while enjoying the refreshing riverside breeze.
In 1982, Tokyo and Paris entered into a friendship agreement, and the Sumida River and the Seine also entered into a friendship agreement between the two rivers. Perhaps this is one of the similarities shared by Tokyo and Paris: despite being major cities, both are blessed with riverside spaces that offer moments of relaxation and tranquility.
In 1988, Chuo City declared itself a “City of Peace,” based on the belief that peace is the foundation of prosperity. The beautiful scenery that can be enjoyed here both day and night is a reminder that such views are truly one of the blessings of peace.
