The Metropolitan Central Wholesale Market, formerly located in Tsukiji, was relocated to Toyosu in October 2018.
Even after the relocation, Tsukiji Outer Market remains a popular destination, home to approximately 460 specialty food shops offering fresh seafood, produce, processed foods, sushi, seafood bowls, Western-style dishes, and cafés.
Its convenient access and lively atmosphere make it popular with both local shoppers and tourists.
The “Tsukiji Uogashi” complex contains around 60 stores, many of which are operated by businesses connected to wholesale distributors. It continues to uphold the Tsukiji brand by serving the needs of food professionals in the restaurant industry.
In addition, the “Tsukiji Nippon Fish Port Market” provides retailers and consumers with fresh seasonal ingredients gathered from fishing ports and production areas across Japan.
No visit to the outer market is complete without sampling its seafood specialties.
From casual sushi and seafood bowls to fried horse mackerel and tamagoyaki, visitors can enjoy a wide variety of local flavors.
