Urakasumi Brewery, Saura is known as the producer of “Urakasumi,” a locally renowned sake that represents Miyagi Prefecture.
On the brewery grounds, historic buildings are still carefully preserved and in active use. These include the “Kyōhō Storehouse,” built on land reclaimed from a former inlet between the late Edo period and the early Meiji era, as well as the stone-built “Taishō Storehouse.”
The brewery is also deeply connected to the town of Shiogama. It is said that during a major fire in the Edo period, the brewery provided timber by cutting down trees from its own forest, and during times of famine, it distributed rice from its storehouses to local residents.
Urakasumi sake has earned numerous top awards at the National New Sake Appraisal and is known for its refined flavor, combining smoothness with a crisp finish.
At the “Urakasumi Sake Gallery,” a shop attached to the main brewery, visitors can purchase Urakasumi products and sake-related goods. In addition, by purchasing a set that includes a sake cup and a special coin, you can enjoy tasting sake using a coin-operated tasting server.

Coin-Operated Sake Tasting Server
You can enjoy sake tasting by purchasing a set that includes a sake cup and a special coin (starting at 300 yen).
If you bring the sake cup with you on a future visit, you will receive a repeat visitor discount of 100 yen.
