Located at 40 degrees north latitude, Aniai Station is popularly known as the “Station of Happiness” (Shiawase no Eki) because the front looks like two number 4s were placed back-to-back (in Japanese, the word for “happiness” is shiawase, which is also the word for “a group of 4s,” such as the number 44). The station has a spacious design, a train-viewing area where you can observe the trains and nature, and a tourist information center.

▼Original station melody
Up-line departure melody "White Snow"; down-line departure melody "Juhyo"
This station features a melody created by musician Minoru Mukaiya! The melody is played for about 20 seconds, five minutes before departure, to announce the departure of the train. Listen carefully to the melody, which was created with the intention of bringing smiles to the faces of passengers.
You can also listen to this original station melody at Takanosu Station.
