Orion Beer has become widely known as Okinawa’s signature local beer.
The company was founded in 1957, during the period when Okinawa was under U.S. administration, with the goal of supporting the local economy through manufacturing. Even today, Orion Beer operates only one brewery, located in Nago, where all of its products are produced.
At Orion Happy Park, visitors can join a guided tour that introduces the beer-making process in an easy-to-understand and entertaining way, complete with fascinating trivia along the route.
In addition to viewing the impressive production lines filled with massive machinery, visitors can also smell the hops used in the brewing process and see the ingredients added to adjust the flavor of the beer.
And of course, the highlight of the tour is the beer tasting afterward.
As the German saying goes, “Drink beer within the shadow of the brewery chimney,” so be sure to enjoy Orion Beer at its freshest, right where it is brewed.
Soft drinks are also available for visitors who do not drink alcohol.
