OkashiGoten Nago Store
It’s just like a theme park!
Dinosaurs have appeared in the subtropical forests of Yanbaru!?
OkashiGoten has become a name synonymous with souvenir shops in Okinawa.
Its signature product, the “Original Red Sweet Potato Tart,” was first created as part of a regional revitalization project in Yomitan Village. Today, it has become one of Okinawa’s most iconic sweets, alongside chinsuko and sata andagi.
Inside the spacious store, visitors can sample a wide variety of beautifully displayed sweets. However, the Nago branch is especially famous for its attraction, “DINO Dinosaur PARK Yanbaru Subtropical Forest.”
Within a forest filled with subtropical plants such as the giant tree fern known locally as “Hikagehego,” life-sized robotic dinosaurs suddenly emerge from the dense greenery. Not only do the dinosaurs move, but they also roar realistically, creating an exciting and immersive experience that is especially popular with children.
The site also includes the Okinawa Museum of History and Folklore.
This unique museum showcases crafts, Ryukyu dolls, antique household items, and many other artifacts collected over more than 40 years by the founder of OkashiGoten, offering visitors a fascinating glimpse into Okinawan history and culture.
In addition, restaurants serving local Okinawan cuisine can also be found on the premises.
With its combination of souvenirs, attractions, cultural exhibits, and local food, OkashiGoten Nago Store has become one of Nago’s representative tourist destinations, far beyond the image of a typical souvenir shop.
