ZAKURO RANPUYA, which opened in the Yanaka Ginza Shopping Street in January 2015, is Japan’s first specialty shop dedicated to Turkish mosaic lamps.
Ali, the owner of ZAKURO Restaurant, a Turkish and Iranian restaurant, was captivated by Turkish mosaic lamps and thought, “I want to introduce these lamps to Japan.” This inspired him to begin selling Turkish lamps and offering hands-on lamp-making workshops.
The process begins by creating a design on a plain glass base and attaching colorful glass chips one by one. It may look difficult at first, but an S-size lamp takes only about two hours to make, making the experience easy to enjoy. Even beginners can create a beautiful lamp.
The possibilities for colors and designs are endless, and no two lamps are exactly alike.
Using traditional Turkish techniques, you can create your own one-of-a-kind lamp.
