Naminoue Umi Sora Park
Just a short drive from Naha Airport! This popular park offers easy access
and is a great spot to enjoy water sports and BBQs
Naminoue Umi Sora Park stretches along the coastline from the distinctive Mie Castle Tower—resembling a temple—to Wakasa Seaside Park.
At the heart of the park is Naminoue Beach, the only public swimming beach in Naha. This man-made beach opens each year in April and is known for its unique setting, with a roadway running just in front of it.
The park is well equipped for a variety of activities, including diving, snorkeling, and barbecuing, allowing visitors to enjoy marine leisure right in the center of the city.
Nearby, you will find Naminoue Shrine—one of the Ryukyu Eight Shrines and long revered as a guardian of Okinawa—as well as Gokoku-ji Temple, a historic temple of the Koyasan Shingon sect.
In addition, the area known as Mie Castle refers to a former gusuku, or traditional Okinawan fortress, that once stood at Naha Port. Located west of the beach, around Mie Castle Tower and Mie Castle Port, it served both as a defensive structure and as a sacred place where people prayed for safe voyages.
Today, a torii gate and a small shrine remain behind the Loisir Hotel Naha, near Umi Sora Park, preserving the memory of this historic site.
